As a quick reminder, this is the last email I’ll be sending from this substack. I have transitioned to writing my newsletters on Flodesk. Be sure to subscribe there! I am not transferring emails to the new list, you must re-subscribe!
I always love reviewing my year, as a way to celebrate achievements and begin making plans for what I more of or less of in the next year.
My 2023 highlights include:
Passing my CDCES exam and becoming a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist was by far my proudest achievement this year!
Cohosting the second annual Diabetes + Mental Health Conference (our next conference will be in November 2024, click the link to join the waitlist!).
Speaking at the ADCES national conference in Houston and the Mayo Clinic’s Diabetes Nurses Conference in Orlando on the intersection of mental health and diabetes.
Exhibiting the DMH Conference at the ADCES conference and sharing our mission of educating more healthcare providers about diabetes and mental health.
Attending ADA’s Scientific Sessions in San Diego where I was reunited with many old friends!
Joining the Minnesota Board of Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists.
Developing my signature program, Diabetes Decoded, which teaches my 5-step process for understanding your diabetes.
Teaching my Your T1D Pregnancy Roadmap live again.
Supporting nearly 100 people through 1-on-1 coaching, or my online courses and workshops.
Plus: traveling to New York City with my family and attending my 20th high school reunion!
Plans for 2024:
Launching my first coaching membership, Mindful Diabetes, where we will develop skills and insights into diabetes and behavior change that are compassionate, sustainable and evidence-based.
Speaking at diabetes conferences (please email me to ask about your next event!) and hosting our third DMH conference.
Creating more resources for people to learn about diabetes (more on this soon, make sure you subscribe to my newsletter so you don’t miss out!)
Growing my reach and connecting with more T1Ds and those who love them by focusing on more consistent outreach.
Plus: continue to improve my own diabetes management behaviors and understanding of my blood sugar patterns — accepting that these are ongoing efforts can help make the work less distressing.
Don’t forget — there are only 4 more days to enroll in the January workshop of Mindful Diabetes. In January, the training will be on creating compassionate - not perfectionistic - goals for the New Year, which will help you achieve the changes you want to see and decreases the chance that you’ll forget your goals after the first three weeks or so.
As a member, each month you’ll get:
two calls (both recorded!)
a training workshop on something related to diabetes management or behavior change, with real evidence-based science
a discussion call where you can get live, personal coached, ask questions and share your own support and insights with the community
an online forum where you can discuss and interact with the community all month
monthly challenges to practice what we are working on
plus more bonus events throughout the year!
Memberships come in monthly, 6-month or 12-month subscriptions!
