It probably comes as no surprise that Instagram has lost a bit of luster for me in the last few weeks. If you missed the update in my earlier newsletter update, I was hacked at the end of April, and pretty much lost all of my followers and content. Instagram was no help in retrieving anything, but I thankfully have been able to start a new account with the old username, so you can refollow me at @thediabetictherapist.
But even before then, Instagram and other social media platforms have been difficult to use. The algorithm now favors short, snappy videos, and for someone who values the written word, it’s agonizing.
So we find ourselves here. A place where both long-form essays and images can have a home, where posts will be delivered to your inbox so you never have to worry about missing a lesson or an insight or an announcement. Frequency will pick up a bit too, as I will be posting a little less on Instagram. (Not completely gone, but a little less often.)
I plan to post weekly, on Mondays. Just like my Instagram, you’ll see a mix of content. Some weeks I’ll post something management-related, like a Dexcom trick or managing highs after pizza. Other weeks you’ll see an essay on coping with diabetes, or how it impacts relationships or our mental health. You might get a glimpse at the kinds of things I talk to clients about in our sessions. And still other weeks you might just get a short announcement about a new program or service, or a story from my own personal life.
Speaking of announcements, did you hear that I’m hosting a free masterclass this Thursday? All about pattern management! I’m going to be sharing 5 things that you absolutely need to know before analyzing your own data. One of my favorite things to help my coaching clients with. (And I’m accepting new clients for July!) If you come live, there will be a very special offer being shared… it will not be included in the recording!
Will I see you there? Leave a comment to let me know if I can expect you!
This platform also gives you the option to comment and interact with me with each post, which I think is pretty neat! I am looking forward to getting to know you better.
Before I sign off, here are 5 things to help you get to know me better:
I have lived in Minnesota for 8 years, but I grew up in Oregon.
Like many therapists, I have quite the collection of cardigans!
I have two boys; my oldest is almost 5 and the baby just turned one!
My favorite season is summer: ice cream, wineries, hiking and pool days! Oh, and my birthday ;)
I love to travel! Some dream destinations are Sweden + Norway, Australia + New Zealand, Israel, and Hawaii. What is your favorite travel destination?
That’s it for this week! See you next Monday. (Or Thursday!!)
cheers,
Allison
